Pete is currently a HSE/Quality/Reliability Consultant. He also owns Caminada Group a Real Estate Development Company.
Born and raised in Lafourche Parish, Pete Melancon grew up spending summers on Shrimp Boats out of Grand Isle, Louisiana, before going to work in big oil and seeing the world.
With a variety of assignments, he worked in every aspect of the Oil Business, starting as a roustabout in Timbalier Bay, before retiring as the Logistics Manager of Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico Operations, officed out of Covington.
In between he traveled the globe working projects for Chevron, in every country that Chevron Operates in, which is most of the world.
Pete’s specialty was working on Major Capital Projects, using World Class Methodologies to bring them in on schedule, cost effectively and Incident Free.
With a fun, but no nonsense and very honest approach, those methodologies hit every level of personnel with expectations, and defining what their roles are in the success of projects.
After retiring from Chevron after 36 years of service, he went to work on the Helix/Alliance acquisition, before retiring from Helix/Alliance as Vice President of Health, Environment, and Safety.
Upon coming home to Cut Off, LA, he accepted the role of Head Coach of the South Lafourche High School Lady Tarpons Softball Team, leading that team to 5 consecutive playoff appearances before retiring from Coaching.
Pete is a Graduate of South Lafourche High School, studying Petroleum Safety and Petroleum Technology at Nicholls State University. He is a former Emergency Medical Technician & Paramedic Instructor for the State of Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals. He is an active member of local government, serving and having served on numerous Boards & Commissions, and is a Commissioned Notary Public for the State of Louisiana
Today Pete still travels the world, facilitating events, delivering Key Note Addresses, and consulting with trusted Business Partners, most often around Achieving World Class Through Honest Dialoguing.
